. next i wanted to report on the pier 30-32 seawall lot 30 citizens' advisory committee. you granted us authority to create a citizens' advisory committee for piers 30-32 seawall proposed project and i wanted to report that the community advisory committee was appointed, cac, with 16 members from the neighborhoods and from the city at-large with six alternatives. and we have already convened two meetings. the cac has drafted a mission statement and is reviewing that per the commission's request. to have them adopt it at their next meeting. they have met twice. of the first time on august 23rd and the second time on september 6th and most recently this past friday they did a walking tour of the south beach area right before the friday night's giant's game. the [ka*-ubg/] heard an overon the waterfront plan, the public trust issues and other land use regulations and at the second meeting was more targeted towards transportation. so there as a presentation by the city -- the city's assessment of how to incorporate the information on existing and planned transportation and as transportat

, the pier 66 area, and out to the vista of the bay. one of my favorite things about the restaurant is it is known to bite. and janet osborn, the renowned donors of momo's, pete's tavern, and the canteen across from the at&t ballpark. pete was able to go and scavenge seat covers and other items from memorial stadium as it was being taken down. outside the restaurant, there are the old seats from the stadium and some of the bars are made from other seating areas from the stadium. it is quite an interesting place. we look for too overwhelming success there and welcome them officially to the waterfront. because right now they're not quite on port property. that was really terrific. second, i wanted to mention that this coming wednesday, august 15, we will besosoô hosting an opening reception of an art exhibition that is commission. it is an exhibition that is designed to visually storytelling about pier 70, the history, communities, characters, and identity. city commission explore the different areas through photography and different artwork. she will be displaying her art august 15

is that the center of a lot of the activities moves over to pier 2729 f, for me it is a easier area to serve by transit. one of the legacies that we have seen in august is the historic street car that was running from cal train north along the water front all wait to the warf. there were 8700 people that as i understand the feedback, rode that service, that could be a permanent part of san francisco's legacy if we work and if this works out well for moving people from ball games, let's say to the ferry building, to the warf. they will be riding that service again in october and look at running it again in 2013. other programs that we hope to use cliper card even more. comprehensively, having all of the transit providers accessible by one simple card and so that a tourist does not have to dig in his pocket and get in those cars and large numbers out before they get to san francisco. those are the campaigns through next summer. the jefferson public realm we are tracking that to make sure that it is under construction and that it isn't in the way of all of the pedestrian ans that are coming. bu

and the port architect and project manager for the pier 29 at reconstruction project. in response to the comments about commending everybody working on that project. it takes a village and there are a lot of people who care about it. as reported, we explained we initiated to emergency contracts. restoration on utilities are on the critical path to eliminate the need for generators as well as to provide power to the terminal as scheduled. during this initial period of we have to approach this project utility restoration. phase two will be able cadbury construction -- bulkhead reconstruction. they will not be in the area of immediate work. all the work has been performed with approved building permits and exemption under ceqa. further permits will need to be secured for the remaining work. port staff have then and will continue to keep the san francisco historic preservation commission briefed on the project's project -- progress. phase one is coming to a close. to accommodate the america's cup events, port staff, consultants and contractors are responding to a request to meet a mar

an increase for the electricity surcharge from shore power installation at pier 70. remember we added a surcharge to repay the port for its investment of $5.7 million in that project? we also have a reduction in the payment in lieu of rent from the city. and this payment in lieu of rent is because the america's cup has delayed delivery dates for our venues and is using fewer venues. that is offset by increased rent from delaying delivery dates, but they are net exactly equal and not offsetting due to some technical changes. we also reduced revenue in year 2 for the public ground project. as you learned from the report here, it will remove 87 park spaces in fisherman's wharf and we would need to increase sales 7.5% offsetting. we also decreased lrevenue for the back lands project, for the pier 27 america's cup improvements and we had anticipated revenue in year 2. so in the current year it's $100,000 change. and in budget year it's $600,000 reduction. now to operating expenses. the net change is $2.4 million in the current year. and for budget year, $1.8 million. as previously reporte

in the last few weeks is completion of phase one, the 2012 america's cup event for pier 30, 32. that work was completed on august 1. america's cup management mobilized to that site shortly thereafter. in the last week, the teams have shown up. they're setting up and assembling their ac45's. there will be 11 of them, so it should make for a very exciting fleet racing. next door, pier 36 removal is also officially complete. insofar as the america's cup events and, there's some small detailed work that remains to be finished, but that does not affect the racing at all. brandon street wharf. construction has started. there are over 50 parts that have been driven. the project is on time and on budget. we fully acknowledged that the least disposition agreement being almost done is something that i think i have said a couple of times now, and i can say this to all parties have expressed in strenuous terms of the one to have this done by 5:00 p.m. today. with any luck, it could be out of date by the end of this commission hearing. tenant repairs have proceeded nicely. the office space at pier 23

the metering is done on the piers. so that is very good. what i am concerned about is the staff does not seem to have listened to the concerns of the tenants regarding the parking and setting of rates at parity with other public harbors and i find there is minimal understanding or compassion regarding the lack of parking down there. and they are saying to live with it. we have had 205 spaces, but 205 space goes back to 1985. it was a little quieter back then. there is a little more going on at the waterfront. and that is a lot of people running around that parking lot. there seems to be that the pier 40 space was included to allocate about 100 spaces, but nobody can put their finger on that lore. so i think a little investigation has to be done with that regards. the west harbor is totally reconstructed and our harbor is 25 years old. according to the ordinance that was passed by the parks and recreation department, by the board of supervisors,the east harbor is still at rates very comparable to south beach harbor. they are at $8.75 a foot at my boat and i'm paying $8.70 and that was not inc

the pier 70 project, which ten years ago no one would have thought was a viable mixed-use project, because nobody went there. and that part of it is no longer true. i think, you know, for all of the things that are going on in the new building that is in the ground, that is on the books, that is likely to happen this time around, both in terms of offices and housing, i think what i see as different is a difference in approach. we all know that it's being driven by what the demographers are now referring to as "the urban tech." the social media companies, the high-tech companies, the creative workforces, who now want to live and work in urban environments, interact with their environments instead of work in suburban campuses that are fairly sterile and isolated. and that phenomenon has been going on to some time, but what really brought home some of the changes to me was a talk i heard earlier this week by alexa arena talking about the 5m project at 6th and mission, the conversion of the chronicle building and plant surrounding areas. and she talked about the design process as being one of

with the board of san francisco. in addition to the peer -- pier 27 project. i have a flyer in the back. you can also go to our port website, www.sf we advertise it in the office of contract administration's website, as well as a number of local newspapers, too. just to give us an idea of some of the projects we have. our brown street wharf is a new park coming out following the demolition that the army corps of engineers is receiving bids on tomorrow. the new park will be advertised sometime in december, probably bidding in january of 2012. it is going to include concrete, paving, landscaping, signage and so forth. another project that is coming out in january is the pier 33 bulkhead. that will include an elevator, substructure work, new electrical service, a new 800 amp service. 460-volt transformer on the sidewalk. so look for that package as well. a quick project that is coming out in the beginning of the year, a new canopy. it is going to be a prefab indicated canopy to be installed at pier 50. that is a $400,000 project. then we also have a variety of other projects. we also have
